Just sitting (Shikantaza)
Dogen Zenji · Zen Buddhism
About 20 minutes
Sit in a comfortable position. Let your spine be naturally upright.
Do not try to achieve anything. Do not try to stop thoughts. Do not try to be calm.
Just sit.
Thoughts will arise—let them. Feelings will arise—let them. Sounds will come and go—let them.
You are not doing meditation. You are not practicing anything. You are just sitting.
This sitting is not a means to an end. This sitting is complete in itself.
Nothing needs to be added. Nothing needs to be removed.
Just this.
